Terms of use

LAST UPDATED · 3 NOVEMBER 2026

These are the terms for using suber.health and for receiving The Long Version. When you subscribe or buy advertising you agree to them; for everyone else they are our notice of how the site works. If you buy advertising, the Advertising section below applies as well.

What Suber Health is, and is not

We publish journalism about health and longevity. It is information, not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a doctor who knows you. Do not start, stop or change a treatment because of something you read here. The medical disclaimer says this at more length.

Suber Health is written for adults. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 13 (or under 16 if you are in the EEA). If you believe a child has subscribed, email hello@suber.health and we will delete the record.

We work to be accurate and we show our sources. When we get something wrong we correct it and say so, as the editorial standards describe. We cannot promise that everything on the site is complete or current.

Our work

The articles, letters, design, charts and photographs on the site belong to Suber Health or to the people who licensed them to us. You are welcome to link to us, to quote a short passage with credit and a link, and to share our pages. Republishing whole pieces, or using our work to build a competing product, needs our permission: hello@suber.health.

The letter

The Long Version is free. You subscribe by confirming your address, and you can leave at any time with the link in every issue. We may change its schedule, or stop publishing it.

We link to studies, to other publications and to advertisers. We are not responsible for what is on other sites. Advertising is labelled and is sold separately from editorial; an advertiser's presence is not our endorsement of its product.

Advertising

A placement is a dated slot in the letter, bought on the advertise page. When you start checkout the slot is held for you for 30 minutes; if payment is not completed in that time it is released. Payment is taken in full by Stripe at booking, after you tick the box agreeing to these advertising terms. Every placement is labelled ADVERTISEMENT or CLASSIFIED.

After you book, we ask for your brief: what you sell, who it is for, where the link goes, and a logo if you have one. You can send it from your advertiser page at suber.health/portal or by replying to our email. We need it seven days before the send date. Our editors write and set the ad in the house style. You see it within two business days, on your advertiser page or by email, and one round of changes is included. Nothing runs until you approve it, either by pressing Approve on your advertiser page or by telling us in writing, and your approval is of the ad exactly as shown: if we change it afterwards, we ask you to approve it again. Changes and approvals close at 5pm New York time on the day before the send; an ad not approved by then does not run on that date, and you choose another date or a full refund.

If we cannot agree on the ad, your payment is refunded in full. We may decline any advertiser or any claim, before or after booking, and refund the payment in full; we do not run advertising we believe would mislead readers about their health.

No guarantee of results. We do not promise clicks, sales or any outcome. Audience figures are honest estimates, not guarantees. After the issue is sent we report the totals for your placement: letters delivered, opens, and readers who clicked; we never share information about individual readers.

If an issue slips. If your ad does not run on the agreed date, you choose another date or a full refund. That is your only remedy for a missed placement.

Your promises. You confirm that you have the right to use everything you send us, that every claim in your ad is true and that you hold evidence for it (for health claims, the kind of evidence the FTC expects), and that the ad and what it sells comply with the law where it will be read.

If someone complains. If a third party makes a claim against us because of your ad or your product, you will cover our costs and any damages. We will tell you promptly and let you run the defence.

Our editorial control. We write the ad in our voice. We may edit for style, length and accuracy, and we may decline any advertiser, claim or ad at any time; if we decline after you have paid, we refund in full.

Payment and refunds. Payment is due at booking. Refunds are as set out above: if we cannot agree on the ad, if we decline it, or if an issue slips. Otherwise fees are not refundable once the ad has gone out.

Our liability. Our total liability to you for a booking is the amount you paid for that booking. We are not liable for indirect loss, including lost profits.

These advertising terms were last updated on 3 November 2026.

Using the site fairly

Do not try to break the site, overload it, get around its protections, or collect our readers' or contributors' information from it.

What we promise, and what we do not

Suber Health is a publication, not a clinic. Nothing on the site or in the letter is medical advice, and reading it does not make you our patient. Talk to a clinician before you change anything about your health, and never ignore medical advice because of something you read here.

The site and the letter are provided as is, as available, and without any warranty, express or implied, including any implied warranty of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose or accuracy. We do not promise that the site will always be available or free of errors.

To the extent the law allows, Suber Health and Wittier Labs are not liable for any indirect or consequential loss, lost profits, lost data or lost business, and our total liability to you for anything connected with the site or the letter is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim. For readers, that is zero, because the letter is free.

Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, for gross negligence or willful misconduct, or for anything else the law does not allow us to limit. If you are a consumer, you keep every right your local law gives you that cannot be taken away by contract.

Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of Delaware, where Wittier Labs is based, and any court case about them must be brought in the courts of New Castle County, Delaware. If you are a consumer living in the EU, the UK or another place whose law gives you the right to rely on your local consumer protections or to sue where you live, nothing in this section takes that right away. We do not require arbitration and we do not ask you to give up class actions.

Changes

We may change these terms for a good reason, such as a change in the law or in what the site does. We will post the new date at the top and, for advertisers with a live booking, email you. Changes apply from the date posted and do not apply to a booking already paid for or to a dispute that has already started.
